Please find below information on how to nominate to be on a Property Council committee.

How do I know what committees there are and what they are responsible for?

A list of 2019 committees will be published on the website on 20 August 2018.

How do I prepare my nomination?
  1. Identify up to three committees in your Division you would like to nominate for. Consider joining a committee where you have particular expertise (e.g. planning) or the sector you are building your career in (e.g. residential, industrial, retirement).

  2. Discuss your plan to nominate within your organisation and with your Manager. We are encouraging companies to take a whole of organisation approach to their nominations.

  3. Find out who is the central person co-ordinating the nominations in your company. Contact Isla Manson on 02 9033 1982 or email support@propertycouncil.com.au to identify this person if required.

  4. Once you have notified your representative of your preferred committees, ensure your CV is up to date on LinkedIn and provide the link (or alternatively provide a 250 word bio). This information will accompany your nomination.

I want to stay on the committee I am already on. Does this happen automatically or do I have to nominate?

All positions on all committees are being spilled. You will need to participate in the nomination process. Committee membership is determined by Executive Directors and their Division Councils. It will not occur automatically. Please note - we attract multiple nominations for every available committee role. Unfortunately this means many nominations are unsuccessful. We thank you for your ongoing engagement and support.

What proportion of committee members will change?

It is up to Executive Directors and their Division Councils to determine the composition of each committee to ensure the right mix of expertise, renewal, diversity as well as continuity of corporate knowledge.

What do I need to give to my company’s Member Representative to nominate?

You need to provide your contact details, a link to your CV on LinkedIn (or alternatively a 250 word bio) and three committee preferences. We encourage you to discuss your plans to nominate with your Manager.

Why do I need my nomination to go through our Member Representative?

We are encouraging whole of organisation nominations. By asking Member Representatives to invite and collect nominations in their organisation and lodge via the portal in a single company nomination entry we are seeking to improve efficiencies and achieve our 40:40:20 diversity targets. 

I don’t even know who my Member Representative is. What do I do?

Find out who is the central person co-ordinating the nominations in your company. If you are not sure who this person is contact Isla Manson on 02 9033 1982 or email support@propertycouncil.com.au.

Can I make an individual nomination and not go through my Member Representative?

Yes. From 3 September to 1 October individuals can access the portal. However we are encouraging whole of organisation nominations and requesting Member Representatives to co-ordinate nominations for their companies.

Can I be on a committee if our company is not a member?

No. Participation on a committee is an exclusive member benefit.

What committees can I nominate for?

You are eligible to nominate for any committee in the Division you are a member in. When your Member Representative logs onto the portal, these committees will appear in the drop down boxes.

I am part of the 500 Women in Property program and keen to nominate. Will my participation be noted in my nomination?

Yes. Our system will recognise your status as either a participant or sponsor in our 500 Women in Property program and this will form an important consideration in the selection process. We encourage you to discuss your plan to nominate with your Member Representative.

Will I get on one of the committees I nominate for?
