500 Women in Property is an initiative of the Property Council’s Diversity and Inclusion Committees throughout Australia.

It involves a personal commitment from Property Council Members (women and men) to identify and champion women in their organisation or business sphere, who they believe would benefit from further networking and professional development opportunities. The program aims to accelerate more women into leadership positions in the property industry through sponsorship of high potential talent.

Our aspiration target in 2016 was to sponsor 100 Women in Property each year to achieve a significant and sustainable increase in the number of women in senior leadership positions in the property industry and a pipeline of future leaders. The response to the program has been overwhelming and consequently, the initiative was re-branded to 500 Women in Property, with over 2,500 women participating in the program nationally since its launch.

In 2022, 500 Women in Property will be back with new inclusions to support participants and their sponsors. 

Capacity for 2022 will be 500 participants (and their sponsors). A selection process will be in place should more nominations be received than places available.

What is the difference between a sponsorship program and a mentoring program?

The success of the program relies on the personal commitment of the program’s sponsor champions, but it also depends on participants, to actively engage in the opportunities on offer to you.

Mentors and sponsors serve different purposes, but their end goal is the same; to support you in achieving your goals. Sponsors are people who will advocate for you in the workplace, champion your skills and success and help to build your network and profile.

Playing a slightly different role, a mentor is a source of guidance and advice. Both are important in maximising career growth, but sponsors act where mentors usually advise.

Key Program Inclusions for 2022

Launch Networking Events   Sponsor Briefing Session   Observe a Property Council Committee

Official launch events will be held in each state/territory. This is the first opportunity for the cohort to to learn more about the program and what they can expect during the year. Gaining insights into the key program events and opportunities and hear from the program’s sponsors and alumni.

 

Providing sponsors with an understanding of best practice ways to assist their participant and guidance on their important role and how to maximise the program for all involved. The session will be held virtually for all sponsors to attend and hear from an experienced sponsor.

 

A valuable and unique part of the program is the opportunity for Participants to observe a Property Council Committee meeting. Participants will be invited to attend a meeting in their State/Territory to provide an understanding of how the committees work and to broaden their network.

Bespoke Masterclasses   The Academy LMS   Wrap Up Networking Event

Two bespoke virtual professional development masterclass sessions will be provided to all Participants in May and August.

 

All Participants receive full access to the new Property Council Academy Learning Management System (LMS). The LMS courses cover a range of leadership, technical and role specific topics such as Time Management, Social Media Awareness through to technical topics like ‘Creating Great Places’. Providing Participants, the professional development opportunity to learn anytime, anywhere and on any device.

 

Official wrap up events will be  held in each state/territory. This is the final formal event for the cohort to come together and celebrate their successes and achievements over the year.

Nominees advised of outcome by COB Friday 4 March 2022
Program launches on Tuesday 8 March 2022

 

A non-refundable application fee of $150.00 is payable for all successful participants in the 2022 program. This fee will partially offset the administrative cost of running the program and is to be paid in full prior to the official program launch event. Successful applicants will be provided a direct link for payment once application announcements have been made. The application fee is not applicable to sponsors.
