A strong and sustainable property industry matters not only for our members and the 1.4 million Australians who depend on our industry for their livelihood. It also helps create, build and manage the places which drive the economic and social vitality of our community.
Effective advocacy for our industry and its contribution to Australia has never been more important. Our members are critical in this important work, including through participation in our various industry committees.
Our committee members help to shape the future for our industry through advocacy on policy and legislation, research, professional development and member events. Being part of a committee is also a great way to strengthen your industry networks and expertise.
We know that the best discussions, thinking and productivity occurs when there is diversity and we are keen to have as broad a field of nominations as possible from across our membership.
In the 2016 committee spill we set a participation target of 40 per cent women, 40 per cent men and 20 per cent discretionary and launched our 40:40:20 campaign to help us achieve these targets together. We were thrilled to exceed our target for the 2017-18 committee term with a 43% female participation across the 1,600 committee roles.
We relaunched this important campaign during our 2018 committee nomination period to ensure we reached our 40:40:20 target again for the 2019-20 committees. With the tremendous support of our members, we are thrilled to have exceeded our target for the 2019-20 committees with a 44% female participation across the 1,820 committee roles.
